The Roller Coaster of Life….
…..took me DOWN this weekend! =(
However, the roller coast of life tends to go in that direction a lot and I always try my best to not let it affect me to much if I can help it and this weekend was no exception!
I did my best to stay on track and not let me mood affect my weekend plans and “healthy” eating habits……….=) Luckily, it wasn’t hard to do either as I found that keeping myself busy helped keep my mind off of what was making me down in the first place.
In fact, I find a of the following items that I did this weekend helped me greatly:
- House Cleaning (Saturday Morning)
- Bathrooms & Dusting
- Hubby vacuumed for me! =)
- Bathrooms & Dusting
- Laundry (All Day Saturday)
- 5 Loads
- Felt great to get it all done in one day so I didn’t have to worry about doing any on Sunday…..=)
- 5 Loads
- Eating Out (Lunch on Saturday)
- Back Yard Burger
- Cheeseburger w/seasoned fries & homemade lemonade (sorry no pictures).

- Grocery Shopping (Saturday Afternoon)
- 1+ Hour w/Hubby & Little One

- Watch a Movie (Saturday Night)
- Clash of the Titians (1981)
- A favorite classic movie from your childhood, watched with your family is always a good way to improve your move!
- Clash of the Titians (1981)
- Go for a LONG Run (Sunday Morning)
- 4 Miles in 45 Minutes
- The weather wasn’t that great as it was pretty cloudy out but I ventured outside anyway and was greeted with a refreshing coolness that felt really good. On the way home it did start to rain but I managed to not get socked. The entire run felt REALLY GOOD and easy going as I took my time so I could enjoy the run.
- 4 Miles in 45 Minutes
- VEG around the House (Sunday Late Morning & Afternoon)
- Took a long shower.
- Ate a late breakfast.
- Spinach and mushroom omelet with fruit on the side.
- Talked, watched TV and did some more vegging.
- Grilled a late lunch.
- ½ a T-bone steak baked “loaded” sweet potato and steamed asparagus.
- Visit my Mother-In-Law (Sunday Evening)
- Talk, drink coffee & tea and be treated to an always good homemade dinner.
- Baked ham, cabbage & beans.
- Talk, drink coffee & tea and be treated to an always good homemade dinner.
- Spending time with Loved Ones!!! (Sunday Night)
- Talking to my daughter before bed and laughing with (at) my husband! =)
And, let’s not forget some of the SNACKS I munched on throughout the weekend:
I ate handfuls of the above throughout the weekend with my hubby, they satisfy my sweet & salty cravings!
I ate the above on Sunday after breakfast as I was craving something sweet and it was sitting there in front of me so I caved, at least I only ate 1/2 of it.
Overall, I think I did pretty good in the eating department! I am trying to get back on track and eating to lose it is just taking a little bit of time but I feel the motivation building.

WEEKEND TIPS!!!
Food Court Survival Guide
Healthier Choices
Okay, let’s face it. We all have to eat fast food once in a while. Whether you’re stuck in an airport or dashing between errands, sometimes you have to make do with less-than-ideal choices when facing food-court options. If you’re not careful, it’s easy to consume tons of unnecessary calories with little nutritional value.
Navigating the food court (or drive-thru) doesn’t have to be a nutrition disaster. A little knowledge goes a long way in choosing the best options. Here are our dietitian-approved choices at several popular fast food chains.
McDonald’s
Best Choice: Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken
McDonald’s has an array of more healthful choices, especially if you customize your order. One good option: the Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken (without dressing) contains 320 calories, 9g total fat (3g saturated fat), and 30g protein. Add a packet of low fat Balsamic Vinaigrette for just 40 calories. Moderate in calories and high in protein, this meal will help keep you full enough to avoid those cinnamon buns around the corner.
***I have had this salad and LOVE IT! In fact, I bought the Newman’s Southwest Dressing they use in it and make my own at home.
